Frequently Asked Questions:

Q
What’s the max weight these pallets can hold?

A
This varies depending on the spec of the pallet. Normal loads of up to 1000kgs stacked multihigh are not unusual. Some special pallets have been tested up to 23 tonnes.

Q
What are your standard sizes?

A
Main ones for pallets are 1200x1000, 1150x1150, and 1000x1000. For bins, most common is 1000x1000x800 or 1125x975 which is optimised for container usage.

Q
What happens when they get wet?

A
They are reasonably tolerant to moisture as you would get on wet truck decks and wet ground, but immersion in puddles or being left outside in the rain will ‘accelerate their recycling process’.

Q
Are they OK for export?

A
Yes, they are perfectly suited for export as they can be recycled wherever they get sent. They have travelled all over the world by sea and by air, FCL’s and LCL’s.

Q
Are they OK for seafreight? Airfreight?

A
Yes, perfectly fine for both modes.

Q
Are they ISPM 15 approved?

A
Being cardboard, they are accepted into any country and do not require special ISPM 15 documentation

Q
Are they OK in humid climates?

A
Yes, but sometimes allowance has to be made for this in the design spec.

Q
What are they made out of?

A
Corrugated cardboard  and paper honeycomb, glued together with a PVA water based glues..almost exactly the same as ordinary corrugated cartons

Q
Do you make different sizes?

A
Yes, generally pallets and bins are made to order, although there are some more commonly used sizes and specs

Q
Can you rack them?

A
Most 2 way entry pallets can be racked with reasonable loads, but 4 way entry pallets can only be racked with light loads

Q
What is your minimum order qty?

A
50 usually.

Q
What is your lead time?

A
Usually no more than 7 days

Q
Are they OK in a freezer? Coolstore?

A
Coolstores and freezers are OK providing they are not high humidity stores.

Q
Are they OK with hot products?

A
Yes, temperatures up to 70 degrees have been proven OK

Q
What happens to wooden pallets when they get to their destination?

A
Very few wooden pallets get re-used for freight purposes as the sizes chosen to optimise your export load in a container or aircraft, often do not fit into warehouse and freight systems where they are being sent. Most get burnt releasing smoke and pollutants into the air, and some go to landfill.

Q
Why do you claim they are more sustainable?

A
Because a) they are lighter due to less wood fibre being used, b) the wood fibre used for paper includes parts of the tree that could otherwise be waste therefore many many more cardboard pallets can be made from one tree than a wooden pallet, c) they can be recycled wherever they go in the world therefore not releasing pollutants or carbon into the atmosphere.

Q
What is your lead time?

A
Usually no more than 7 days
